‘Your browser has been locked‘ warning possesses with characteristics of both ransomware and browser hijacker. The peculiarity of it is that Mac OSX browser called Safari is attacked as well. Obviously, hackers have found ways how to get into PCs of Mac OS users and make them scared in a similar manner as for Windows OS users. The warning ‘Your browser has been locked’ is also categorized as ransomware, because there’s a continuation to this message where user is condemned of performing various crimes online. The scary warning instructs users to pay funds (ransom) through Ukash, Paysafecard or GreenDot MoneyPak payment system to unlock their PCs.
